BATON ROUGE, La - Today, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Board of Supervisors unanimously selected Dr. Vincent June as Chancellor of South Louisiana Community (SLCC) and Dr. Scott Rule as Chancellor of Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC). Dr. Monty Sullivan, LCTCS president, made the recommendations to the board during its December meeting. The recommendations were made after the completion of two comprehensive national searches, which included virtual interviews and virtual public forums with students, faculty, staff, and community members. June's appointment is effective immediately, while Rule will assume the chancellorship at LDCC on January 1, 2021.
"On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I want to congratulate both Dr. June and Dr. Rule on their selections as the new chancellors of SLCC and LDCC respectively," said Tim Hardy, LCTCS board supervisor and chair of each search committee. "We were impressed by the knowledge and experiences of each finalist. After a thorough vetting process, we believe Drs. June and Rule are the perfect fits for the students, the colleges, and the communities they each serve. They will continue leading our efforts to deliver world-class academic and workforce training in the greater Acadiana and Northeast Louisiana region."
"As LCTCS Board Chair I congratulate Dr. June and Dr. Rule on their selections at the next Chancellors of SLCC and LDCC," said Paul Price, Jr. "We are excited about the great work currently occurring at LDCC and SLCC and look forward to what is next for the future of these two colleges and the communities they serve."
"I feel extremely grateful and honored to be selected as the next Chancellor to lead South Louisiana Community College," said June. "As vice chancellor for academic and student affairs over the past four years, I have experienced so many outstanding successes at this great institution with faculty, staff, students, and the Acadiana community. Today is a phenomenal bonus for me to serve at the helm of leading SLCC, and I am thankful to the LCTCS search committee, Dr. Monty Sullivan, and the LCTCS Board of Supervisors for their support and endorsement."
"I am truly excited to have been selected as Louisiana Delta Community College's Chancellor," said Rule. "While recognizing the history of the college and the tremendous services and programs its faculty and staff have provided over the years, I look forward to building on that success and making LDCC the pride of northeast Louisiana and a model institution for others to emulate."
Rule added, "My appreciation goes out to Chancellor Dennis Epps for having strengthened the institution and making it better than when he arrived and to Mr. Broadwater for keeping the college on the right track after Mr. Epps's departure. It is time to grow from there! I am eager to move into the area and get to know my team, our K12 and higher education partners, business & industry leaders, and community stakeholders."
