SHREVEPORT, LA. - Chancellor Earl Meador of the newly renamed Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College (NLTCC) and Shreveport community leaders are scheduled to hold three ribbon cutting ceremonies celebrating the renaming of the Shreveport, Minden and Mansfield campuses on Thursday, October 10th. The change from Northwest Louisiana Technical College was made official July 1, 2019.
The name change comes with several advantages for students in the area, including the ability to earn associate degrees. This change also grants NLTCC participation in Louisiana Transfer, a transfer agreement between Louisiana community colleges and four year institutions that allows students to complete their initial coursework toward a bachelor degree at a community college.
Local business and industry will see the benefit of the name change as well, with the potential for the addition of new programs designed to meet the growing demands of the workforce. NLTCC currently offers programs that enable graduates to earn a certification and join the workforce in 18 months or less.
