Student's Background: Joseph Stephens is one of two Louisiana National Guard soldiers accepted into the CB&I (NYSE: CBI) Industrial Electrical program at the Lamar Salter Campus.  He is a member of the 2-108th Cavalry Squadron headquartered in Shreveport, La. Joseph joined the national guard right after high school, and he is currently completing a six-year commitment to the military.  He was the first graduate of the program's first cohort to get a position at the CB&I Chiyoda Joint Venture (CCJV) Project in Hackberry, La. Under the Industrial Electrical program, a new class starts every 16 weeks with a total of three cohorts per year. CB&I partnered with CLTCC and Fort Polk to launch the Industrial Electrical program in December 2016.  The program supports Veterans by training transitioning soldiers for careers in the Industrial Electrical field as their term of service in the military expires.  It also creates a large pipeline of skilled workers for businesses like CB&I.

 

Credential Earned: Joseph earned a credential from CLTCC and a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Level 4 credential.

Outcome: Joseph is currently employed at CCJV for CB&I.  He started working May 1, 2017.  His supervisors and foreman have reported that he is one of the best trained workers they have had from a craft development training program.
